The Accounting Intern will work closely with the Accounting Director and can expect to participate in the accounting activities of a real-world business. The Accounting Intern will typically work in an office environment but may be called upon to help with additional tasks in other departments, including work outside and/or in inclement weather.
Requirements:
Able to work at least 10 hours a week starting in April
Recent graduate or actively working towards a Bachelor’s in Accounting
Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles
GPA of 3.0 or higher
Understanding of GAAP and financial principals and terms
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Proficient with Word, Excel, and e-mail and able to learn bookkeeping software
Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
Ability to work proactively with other team members
Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills and be receptive to feedback
Ability to maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking

Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records
Prepare, review, and email customer invoices
Prepare journal entries
Work with bookkeeping software
Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity
Work with the HR Director to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company or clients
Reconcile and record deposits
Count and prepare cash register drawers weekly
Deliver deposits to the bank
Assist with benefits tracking and documentation
Perform administrative tasks such as answering and directing phone calls and taking messages as necessary
Other duties as assigned, including special projects with other departments
