– From Jim and Kathy Stout
When we purchased the BeaveRun Motorsports Complex in 2011, our goal was to take the struggling race track headed toward bankruptcy and transform it into a world-class facility for all things motorsports — the Pittsburgh International Race Complex (Pitt Race).
It was an investment for sure, with many risks and challenges ahead of us, but it was much more than that…
As motorsports enthusiasts ourselves, we wanted to share our passion with others and provide the ultimate customer experience which included reimagining, expanding, and beautifying the property.
We wanted to build something truly special in the region — not simply a place to enjoy the thrills of driving fast, but a unique destination for people to create lasting memories with family and friends.
After millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements, including the South Track addition which lengthened the original 1.7-mile road course to 2.8 miles, Pitt Race would become a favorite venue for motorsports lovers, in the tri-state area and all around the country.
Over the years, we hosted countless local, state, and national racing events, delivering heart-racing action for drivers and spectators alike. Through our Driving Academy, we helped individuals, fleets, and first responders become safer drivers on the roads. We were also the place where so many people chose to celebrate important milestones in their lives, from weddings and retirements to memorials and birthdays.
All the while, we remained deeply connected to the community — creating jobs, strengthening local businesses, awarding scholarships for careers in the trades, and even running a food bank to help our neighbors during Covid.
When we reflect upon all Pitt Race has meant over the years, it wasn’t only about racing; it was about the friendships, memories, and community that grew around it.
And our accomplishments as owners were never ours alone. They were made possible by the hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication of so many — from our incredible staff to our dedicated sponsors and vendors. Together, we built something that reached far beyond the track itself, leaving a lasting mark on everyone involved.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who helped make Pitt Race possible. Just like the memories you created with us, we’ll never forget you.
