Drift School

Pitt Race Offers Drift School With Distinct Drift

The sport of Drifting has continued to grow over the years at Pitt Race. In support of the sport, we have decided to partner with Distinct Drift to create a school. This school is perfect for those wanting to learn proper techniques, safety, and practice their new skills before registering for an event.

About the event

Learn to Drift with Distinct Drift at the Pitt Race Drift School. This 1-day class will introduce you to concepts and techniques to prepare you for your first drift event. Practice oversteer, understeer, and countersteer techniques. In the afternoon, apply your new throttle and steering skills to create a consistent and continuous drifting pattern. Before you leave for the day you will be able to compete in a mini challenge (simple drift course.)

  • The event will take place 8 am-5 pm. You may enter the facility any time after 8 am.

  • Walk-up registrations are permitted until all spots are sold out. The price for walk-up registration will increase from $300 to $330.

  • Registration/Check-In and helmet check will take place in the Pro Shop

  • Additional information will be included with your confirmation. Any event updates will be sent via email.

  • Registration only covers entry for the participant.

Driver Requirements

  • Drivers must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license and must be 18 years old or older (Anyone under 18 requires a parental consent form to be signed at registration).

  • Passengers are not permitted.

Vehicle Requirements

  • Participants are required to use their own vehicle. Pitt Race does not have rental vehicles available.

  • RWD vehicles are required. It is also highly recommended to bring a vehicle equipped with a locking differential such as an LSD, welded, or spool. Bringing a vehicle with an open differential will significantly hinder the driver’s progression and ability to drift.

  • Vehicles with a high center of gravity and narrow track, including most SUVs, Cross-Overs, Mini Vans, 4WD pickup trucks, and the Polaris Slingshot are not permitted. There are a few exceptions to this rule. Please call the track office to confirm vehicle eligibility. You may be turned away at registration if your vehicle does not meet the requirements.

  • Non-modified, production, electric vehicles are allowed.

Gear Requirements

  • Helmets Snell certified with the following ratings are accepted: SA2020, SA2015, M2020, or M2015.

  • Rental helmets are available for the event on a first-come first-serve basis at the Pro Shop.

  • Drivers are required to bring their helmet to check-in for approval and helmet tech decal. The helmet will then be valid for the year indicated on the decal.

  • Shoes that cover the entire foot must be worn while on track. (No sandals, heels, crocs, etc.)
